Q's Bayou Adventure Pt.3

Bernard and Bianca had scurried off into the hole to help her find the Devil's Eye. After introducing themselves and getting to know Penny quickly, the mice scurried around the cave, looking for what should be a gigantic diamond. Penny and the Rescuers ignored the other gems as they rummaged around in the cave. The tide began to rise...

Q was flying towards the wrecked boat at this point, but something caught his eye. A tiny shack no bigger than an toddler. "The things I do now that I am an owl..." Q said as he wrapped his talons on the door of the shack.

A large mouse answered, but quickly slammed the door when she saw who was knocking.

"Go away you big ol' owl! We don't want no trouble!"

"Neither do I," responded Q, "But that is precisely why I am here! I am here to help a little girl escape from that Medusa woman. I was wondering if you might know of any transportation out of this swamp fit for human travel."

The mouse opened the door again.

"You are here to help that poor child they abducted? Oh my, oh my yes I can help you! That lady has a car she parked somewhere in the forest. She drives it around and kicks up all sorts of trouble. I can hardly sleep when its around! I know where it is, but I figure a big ol' owl like yourself needs someone who can fly around and show you the place."

The mouse, Ellie Mae walks out of her house and begins to holler.

"EVINRUDE!!! OH EVINRUDE!!!!"

A dragonfly in a sweater comes flying in, but since its night, there are more than talking owls and evil diamond-seeking ladies about. A group of bats is chasing after Evinrude, and the poor dragonfly seems to be slowing down from exhaustion.

Before Ellie Mae can even ask Q, the great gray owl is up in the air, dropping his protective thimbles onto the dirt near the shack as he flew towards the bats. Evinrude sees Q flying towards him and promptly faints, falling into a downwards spiral. Q flies under Evinrude and lets the bug land safely on his back before he begins swatting the bats away with his wings. The bats nip and bite while being assaulted, but the large owl is much too big to battle and they are not that committed to hunting one solitary bug to risk bodily injury. The bats fly off into the night as Q lands and lets Ellie Mae look over the bug.

"Ah, poor dear, he's just passed out."

Out of the shack walks a drunk mouse in pajamas.

"Is that Evinrude? That bug done tired himself up again didn't he? Just give him a bit of this and he'll be up and at 'em."

The mouse, named Luke, took his bottle of moonshine and poured it down the fainted bug's mouth.
