Why Zoocross Is Delayed (A ZF Fan Fic)

It was supposed to be a week-long trip.

But now, as he sat in a log cabin somewhere dark and cold in Siberia, he knew he would not be coming home soon.

He had gone there seeking answers, assuring his friends that he would be back soon. There was going to be a race, and he was just as excited as any fan to see who would win it.

He took a plane to Ukraine after saying his goodbyes. For a while, all seemed well. He met up with his contact, learned what he needed to know, and was preparing to leave later that night. While listening to music and drinking the local brew in his rented cabin, things took a turn for the worse.

The sound of gunfire drowned out his music and sent him tumbling from his seat. He turned over a table, putting the heavy oak piece between him and the door. But the sounds of gunfire were not from nearby. Over a nearby hill, an insurgency of Russian troops had just arrived and were opening fire on the locals. Unprepared civilians were shot as they ran for safety, and others died in their sleep as tanks blew apart entire building.

He dared to come out from behind the table and looked out a window. Fires lit up the otherwise pitch black night. If it wasn't for the fact his lodgings were so far on the outskirts of town, he might have not even heard the troops before he died. He could not discern a reason why they would attack. Is Putin trying to build a new Soviet Union? Did Ukraine breaks some treaty? Or is everyone still pissy over that whole oil fiasco? Either way, he was not going to sit here and wait for some Russian grunts to blast him to pieces.

Shutting of his music and lights, he opened up one of his suitcases. A substantial bribe to the airlines allowed him to slip past a case of deadly essentials he never went anywhere without.  His half-empty brews were now converted into molotovs. His belt was now weighed down with grenades and ammo. On his back, a sledge hammer was slung in case things got up close and personal. But of course, he had a few knives on his person in case a quick kill was necessary.

He hefted up a machine gun and a grenade launcher. If he hadn't been so used to dual-wielding the two weapons, this might have made him incredibly inaccurate. But this man had faced tougher before, and by no means would he let some scruffy band of Russian soldiers be the ones to take him down.

He stepped out into the cold night. The wind was unforgiving to say the least, but his person was covered with so many weapons he hardly had room for the cold to seep in. Staying low and out of the light of the burning buildings, he did his best to work his way around the back of the group of soldiers. They were distracted as a ragtag militia did their best to take out some front line infantry.

Just as he was about to reach the back, gunfire shot across his path. One of the tank gunners had spotted him. The gunner's shots danced all around, but none of them could find its target in the dark of the night. Before the gunner could locate his target once more, the feeling of sharp steel slid across his neck.

The other men in the tank began to shout up at the now deceased comrade. One man popped the hatch of the tank to investigate, and as soon as he saw his comrade, he screamed. Not because of the dead body, but because of the weapon-laden warrior who was right in front of him. The Russian's scream was muffled as a grenade was jammed into his open jaw, and soon the men within the tank found out what their buddy looked like without his head.

The tankmen were quick to react, but none of them could get out of the tank before two molotov cocktails fell down to join them. He closed the tank hatch to silence the screams of the burning soldiers. That took out the heavy weaponry, but there were many soldiers in the city, as well as jeeps with mounted machine guns.

He slowly worked his way towards the burning city, but he would not be able to enter it without giving up stealth. Instead, he stood just out of sight, waiting for a troop of passing soldiers to get into just the right position...

The troop of soldier's were blown sky high as he opened fire with his grenade launcher. The rest of the soldiers quickly shifted their attention from terrorizing citizens to killing their mystery assailant. The jeeps roared to the scene, their gunners firing erratically out into the darkness.

He cursed as on of the bullets hit his hand. He was forced to drop his grenade launcher and switch to his machine gun. Diving out of cover, he aimed for the drivers of the jeeps. In a quick sweep, the jeeps' occupants were dwindled down to just a group of gunners screaming as their rides careened into fires they had helped create.

The regular infantry proved to be the most difficult surprisingly. The group had split, and as he mowed down a few easily, he had a sneaking suspicion some where sneaking up on him. This proved to be correct, and as soon as gunfire began to shoot out from behind him, he turned around to face his assailants... only to find his machine gun was already empty. He reached for his ammo in his belt, but another soldier had managed to sneak up on him. He was quickly disarmed, but he was able to escape thanks to a headbutt to his attacker's throat. He pulled his sledgehammer off his back, and with a quick swing, he brained his still choking assailant.

His sledgehammer swung wildly between the soldiers who had snuck up on him. Bones were cracked and brains were squished, but not all of the soldiers were slow enough to be hit by the heavy weapon. One brave Russian leaped forward, snapping the wrist of the hammer-wielding hero. Before that Russian could do anything else, a knife had just got acquainted with his guts.

The last few soldiers pulled out their pistols, firing at the man as his available weapons dwindled down to nothing. He would not be able to take them out with his knife, so he reached around his person for any available weapon he could find. All he could find was one grenade. He pulled the ring and pressed the plunger, tossing it towards the Russians. The group tried to back away, but the grenade was quick to explode.

The Russians were blasted to bits, but he was knocked back something awful as well. His front was now scorched and shrapnel stuck out of a few places, but he would survive. Retrieving his lost hammer, machine gun, and grenade launcher, he began to walk towards his cabin. He would nurse his fractured wrist, reload his weaponry, and take the next flight out of this hellhole. At least that is what he would have done if he had not heard the mortar fire.

Turning around, he saw long range weaponry tearing into the already obliterated town. He dashed up towards the hill that the Russians had arrived over. Once he reached the top, he could not believe his eyes. As far as he could see, a convoy of Russian soldiers, tanks, and other weaponry was making its way towards the town.

He did not curse. He did not cower or step back. He stood on top of that hill, reloaded his weapons, and spat onto the ground below.

"This is going to take a bit longer than I thought," said Major Failure as he opened fire on the invading army.

A Day With Dylan

"I've been watching those bargoers for quite some time, and they just constantly kill every enemy placed before them. Even my brother fell to their might. Well, now that that pesky owl robot isn't around, and the Spy is nowhere to be seen, I think I know just the way to get them..."

The Lord of the Night's brother Dylan was pacing around a laboratory, billions of pieces of equipment scattered all over the place. Dylan didn't know what most of them did, but he knew he needed sciencey stuff to make his lair look evil. Instead it look cluttered, cataclysmic doomsday weapons buried underneath piles of fake equipment bought of con artists.

Dylan had no idea what was good and what wasn't but what he did know is that he got one machine working: a cloning machine.

"The bar has faced many foes, but they hardly remember their first real encounter with an enemy... Rise again, and kill the heroes of the King of Beasts!"

The cloning machine smoked and sputtered, a bright light shooting out of the doors as about 12 figures walked out...

"Mwahahaha! The Scullions live again!"

Zed McGlunk and his gang stumble out. The group of ruffians from Police Academy 2 were dazed and confused, a reference worthy of the new era they just stumbled into. The group looked around, and then they saw Dylan, looking as giddy as a schoolboy to see the machine worked.

"Who the hrmamramrla are you?" Zed stutters out.

"I, my friend, am the greatest evil mind to ever live! Dylan! I have brought you to life for one purpose: to defeat the King of Beasts!"

"Hmm, this.... KING OF BEASTS, sounds like a tough jerk!" the gangs leader says with shifting inflections.

"Don't worry, they will never expect you! You have the element of surprise!"

Dylan guided the group over to a van.

"Now then, I will drive you to the bar, where you must smash up the place! Break their windows! CLOG THEIR TOILETS!! HA HA HA HA HA!!! THEY WILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO-"

The sound of wheels screeching interrupts Dylan. The group had climbed into the car and drove off, going anywhere BUT the bar to wreck things up and steal about 8 dollars from a cash register.

Dylan's head dropped, the dejected brother of the Lord stumbling back into his untidy lair. Suddenly though, his face perked up!

"I shall not give up yet!  I have the perfect plan! With enough Tapogres, I can eventually fill the bar with so many corpses they will have no choice but to leave it, separating the group to be picked off by..."

Dylan rambled on into the night, getting ready to enact another scheme that would never get past phase 1.

Q's Bayou Aventure Pt. 7

Mr. Snoops and Penny desperately kicked and screamed as what remains of an alligator tries to devour them. Bernard and Bianca are quick to act, climbing up onto the alligator to try and distract the creature from the humans, but this time it was not going to be fooled by ruses. Ellie Mae and Luke rushed to aide the other mice, but Luke was already losing his buzz and his movements became slow and uncoordinated. Ellie Mae crawled up the car and began to smack the exposed bone of Nero's jaw with her pin, causing tiny fractures to appear.

Penny pulled herself free from the car, but Mr. Snoops was still trapped. Trying to fend off the alligator teeth with your hands is not smart, and soon his flesh was punctured by the creature's teeth. Mr. Snoops was beginning to be eaten!

Q dove in to help them fight off the reptile, but Medusa quickly grabbed the owl by his wing and threw him against a nearby tree.

"Y-y-y-y-you dumb t-t-t-t-talking animals!" Medusa dropped the leash and jumped onto the fallen owl, ripping feathers out of place and bruising the bird's hollow bones. Evinrude saw Q in trouble and acted fast. The dragonfly zipped over and plunged itself into Medusa's ear. She reached up to try and pry him loose, but the dragonfly flew out of one ear and into the next. Soon she was swatting around her head with both hands, trying to shoo away the insect.

Q took the moment to try and pulled himself up. He tested his wings and found himself able to fly, albeit very painfully. Q didn't need to fly long though, just enough to rescue the others.

Q flew up high and swept down, catching Medusa's hair in his talons and pulling her towards the car. Medusa screamed and pulled at her hair, removing chunks of it but also bashing the bird's feet. Q continued through it though and threw her on top of Nero, who was still trying his best to bite Mr. Snoops. Bernard and Bianca jumped off just in time to avoid being crushed. Ellie Mae's pin had bust a chunk of the gator's jaw off, causing the bottom bit of it to become unhinged, but the teeth could still stab even if the jaw could not bite. Q continued to drag Medusa over Nero, but as he neared the head, he knew Medusa's added weight would bring the sharp teeth down on Snoops hard.

"The diamond! Hold up the diamond!" He hooted out, just as Medusa began to roll onto Nero's head. Mr. Snoops barely had time to pull the diamond up to block the teeth coming down on him now, The jaw shattered as it made contact with the Devil's Eye, and Medusa rolled off the now dead alligator and into Mr. Snoops hands. The diamond rolled off as Mr. Snoops held Medusa in his arms.

"Mr. Snoops... You aren't going to help her now, are you?" Asked Penny, flustered from the experience. Mr. Snoops thought for a bit, the still conscience and crazy Medusa looking up at him expectedly. Suddenly, the death throes of what remained of Nero frightened him, causing him to drop Miss Medusa. She helped herself to her feet and prepared to strike when Bernard climbed onto her dress. Her phobia caused her to stumble about wildly, and the drunkenness didn't help. She fell headfirst onto the car, knocking herself out.

After the group had regained composure, dumped and alligator corpse, and locked Medusa in the trunk of the now righted car, they prepared to make their farewells once more.

"Mr. Snoops, oh Mr. Snoops," Bianca piped up, "what about the diamond? You lost it in the fight."

"Oh phooey, let it be someone else's problem. I know its caused enough for me!"

"What about that Miss Medusa? What are you going to do with her?" Bernard asked.

"I guess I will take her to the police. Just as long as none of you tell one me for helping her out. I am awfully sorry about that Penny..."

"It's alright Mr. Snoops. Just as long as you take me home!"

The group drove off. Miss Medusa was arrested and charged with abduction amongst many other crimes, while Mr. Snoops was almost charged until the court realized Medusa was too rattled from her experience to be reliable in her incriminating accusations of him.

Mr. Snoops then drove Penny, the Rescuers, Q, and even Evinrude up to New York. Penny was returned to the orphanage, where she awaits a happy family. Bernard and Bianca reported back to the headquarters of the Rescue Aid Society, reporting the mission a success. Evinrude was honorarily instated, and Q was offered the same honors, but he refused.

"I am honored and flattered, but I sadly do not have the time to provide my services to the wonderful organization. I am still seeking a cure for my current state."

"Don't think we forgot Mr. Owl... I mean Mr. Q. I will gladly help you find a..." Bernard is interrupted by Bianca.

"He means WE will help you find a cure  for being an owl."

Evinrude is quick to shake his head no, buzzing his eagerness to help Q out. Besides, the bug still felt he had a debt to the bird after he was saved from those bats earlier.

"Oh, you want to help him Evinrude? Well, I guess you could." Bernard said, a bit disappointed not to be going on another mission with Miss Bianca.

"Don't worry Bernard, we will find more people who need help. We are the Rescue Aid Society after all!" Bianca says, hugging Bernard and waving goodbye to Q and Evinrude as they go off. A few members of the society were kind enough to patch up Q's injuries, making the bird as fit as a fiddle for when he would reappear at the bar later to resume his reading.

"Well Evinrude, I believe that was the most impressive adventure I've been on in years. Just between you and me, it was actually kind of fun!"

-FIN-

Q's Bayou Adventure Pt. 6

After stumbling about in the woods for a bit, the group returned to Ellie Mae's shack to regroup and wait for the flying creatures to return. However, when they saw Mr. Snoops racing towards somewhere with the diamond glittering underneath his arm, they decided to follow him. The group raced around the shore, but at this rate they would never reach the car before him.

Luckily, taking the shore allowed them to run into Q and Evinrude exhausted on the shore. Ellie Mae and Luke stayed with the two flying friends and told the others to go, hoping against hope that they would somehow reach the car before Mr. Snoops.

Ellie Mae cleaned up Evinrude, who was wet and shivering but just fine. Q, on the other hand, seemed more battered than they thought. Muck was between his feather, and it was clear some of the attacks from the alligators had done some damage.

"The bird is all busted up now too? Don't they know what the answer to everything is yet?" Luke said, He reached into his pajamas and pulled out a tiny flask. It was his last bit of moonshine. It would take days to whip up another batch.

"Now listen here Luke, you better not be thinking what I think you're thinking. That needs to go in Q's mouth or he may never wake up. We'll get to work right after making more, but right now this bird has earned himself a saving drink!"

Luke tries his best to fight the urge to drink, but his body won't listen to his mind. He is about to drink the last bit of the shine before a rolling pin comes slamming on his head, causing him to drop it.

"Honestly!" Ellie Mae says in a huff, quickly pouring the drink down Q's mouth. Similar to Evinrude earlier, Q is instantly reinvigorated, and the bird just can't seem to stay still. He flutters about, his injuries meaningless to him now. He spots Mr. Snoops and grabs the two mice and Evinrude, flying at top speed to intercept the chubby fellow.

The whole group reached the car just as the engine roared. Mr. Snoops stepped on the pedal and took off, driving the clunky machine down a dirt road out of the bayou.

Penny began to cry. "Now I'll never get back to the orphanage... Now no one will ever adopt me!"

"Now now, don't cry darling,  hope is not gone yet." Bianca fights through the bleak outlook of things to try and calm down the girl, but everyone can only look on sadly as the car becomes a dot on the horizon...

"Well, I've made it! Medusa is gone, those dumb gators are gone, I'm home free! Off to live a life of riches! All because of this diamond that... that a little girl almost died getting me..." Mr. Snoops musing is punctuated by the stopping of his engine. He may be greedy and easy to manipulate, but he did have a conscience that kicked in every now and then.

As the Rescuers and the Bayou mice tried to calm young Penny down, and as Q tried to calm himself down from the drunken fervor he had entered, Evinrude began to buzz excitedly. Pointing to the horizon, the car came back into view. Mr. Snoops waved at the group, and the group all cheered.

After Mr. Snoops apologized for his behavior, he gladly agreed to take Penny and the rest back to New York. The Bayou mice decided to stay, and the car set off, carrying our heroes off as Ellie Mae and Luke waved goodbye.

But suddenly giant bony fangs lashed out. What remained off Nero pushed the car over and began snapping at Penny and Mr. Snoops. Holding Nero on a leash was a frazzled and still obviously drunk Miss Medusa.

"You can't get my d-d-d-d-diamond  away that easil-l-l-l-ly!"

Q's Bayou Adventure Pt. 5

As Penny raced by, Luke and Ellie Mae were waiting by their shack for Evinrude to return. Seeing the girl run by clued them in to the current state of affairs, and they were quick to respond. As Medusa turned the corner, the two mice leaped up onto her legs and began to attack as best they could. Luke purposefully climbed up the woman as Ellie Mae banged a rolling pin against the woman's shins. Medusa shrieked from both pain and fear, her musophobia making it like a scene from a nightmare for her.

Meanwhile, the alligators were swimming up on the scene in the water, an owl and a dragonfly in hot pursuit.

"Evinrude, I need you to fly down and attack their eyes. That should aggravate them enough to pursue you. Then you must fly back to me. I will be here, and I shall lead them back to the boat. If we can find some place aboard the ship to lock them away we won't have to worry about them attacking the child!"

Evinrude nodded and dove down, landing directly on Nero's eyeballs. The alligator snapped and flailed about in the water from the assault on his eyes. Sadly, Evinrude was not fast enough to fly away from the flailing reptile, and the dragonfly was slapped down into the water.

"Evinrude!"

Q dove down into the water, hooking the bug's sweater onto one of his talons. As he tried to swim about, the owl quickly realized that he let his emotions overcome his logic. The bird's body was not built for swimming, and Q the owl flailed about in the water, drawing a lot of attention from two ornery alligators just feet away from the scene.

Back on the boat, Mr. Snoops had started up a tiny motorboat like machine and was beginning to drive over to where he last saw Medusa and Penny. He wasn't a bad guy, he just wanted money and was easily manipulated by the overbearing Medusa.

This of course didn't matter to two alligators, who saw the portly man and had to make a decision. Eat the easy meal that floundered about in the water before them, or eat the delicious meat of a large fellow? The owl, it was closer and they could get Mr. Snoops next. They opened their mouths wide and tried to chomp down...

Only to lock their jaws together just inches from crushing Q. The gators turned against each other quickly, biting and snapping angrily. Q took the moment to try a daring move. He pulled himself and Evinrude on top of Brutus, which caused Nero to leap up onto the other gator. Q quickly hopped over to Nero's back, causing Brutus to spin around and attack Nero's back. Q continued to jump around on the two scaly backs until both reptiles had been properly aggravated. The constant friendly fire turned the gators against one another. Both beasts begin to tear each other apart, partly out of rage, but as they bit into each other, their hunger took over.

Q leaped off them and floundered as best he could through the murky water to the shore.

Medusa managed to shake Ellie Mae off, but Luke got up to her face and chucked his tiny bottle of moonshine down her throat. The intense brew began to work its magic in her system, causing the woman to seize up and flail from the potency of the drink. The mice quickly left her to drunken spasms as they ran off into the forest, hoping to find Q and the escape route.

What they didn't know was that Q was on the shore, barely clinging to life. Owls are not supposed to swim, and now he had confirmed that for sure.

Mr. Snoops pulled up to the shore, seeing the two alligators tearing each other apart from afar. Silently he cheered to himself, glad to be rid of those nuisances, but the spasming Medusa nearby caught his attention. Mr. Snoops went to help her, but quickly he had a change of heart. Or rather, he realized he could take the diamond from her in this state and run off in her car.

Mr. Snoops pilfered the Devil's Eye and got back onto his Swampmobile. He drove the machine back to the boat, near which he would find his car and possibly drive away Penny's hope of returning to New York City...

Q's Bayou Adventure Pt. 4

Reinvigorated by the moonshine, Evinrude flew a few laps around the tiny shack before simmering down a bit. Q explained his situation to Evinrude, and the bug quickly flew off, eager to help the owl who saved him from the bats find the car.

Meanwhile, back in the cave, Bernard and Bianca have made a breakthrough! While digging through the dirt, they found a pirate's skeleton. Within its skull was the Devil's Eye diamond, and although both the mice and Penny had tried to pry it loose, the diamond was wedged in that skull pretty good. The tide was beginning to rise to the point Penny had to put the Rescuers on her shoulders so they wouldn't drown. Reaching down into the water, she dislodged the skull from the skeleton and went to the bucket that was waiting for her. Yelling up that she had the diamond, Mr. Snoops and Medusa pulled the rope and the girl out of the cave.

"My diamond! Oh my diamond! It is so beautiful! And it's all mine! MINE!" Medusa laughed as she admired her diamond, ignoring Penny as she tried to make a getaway.

"M-Medusa, that girl is escaping!" Mr. Snoops chased after Penny. "Wait, why do we need the girl anymore?"

Medusa looked at Mr. Snoops. " You are quite right. We don't need her... Feed to her Brutus and Nero."

"THE ALLIGATORS?!?! We can't go and feed her to your pets! That's... That's..."

"What, Mr. Snoops? What is it?"

Medusa leaned in close to Mr. Snoops, anger clearly in her eyes. Mr. Snoops stuttered out an answer, "T-that's v-very good. They h-haven't eaten s-since last night."

Snoops scurries back to the boat, undoing the leashes of Medusa's two pet alligators.

"N-now get her, you two.NOT ME! NOT ME! THE LITTLE GIRL!"

Mr. Snoops ran into the boat and blocked the door as the gators tried to eat him, but after they could no longer reach him, they decided to pursue Penny and the Rescuers.

Q and Evinrude had just located the car when they heard Mr. Snoops ordering the alligators around. Q made a mental note of where it was and followed Evinrude towards the scene of the screams. The two noticed the alligators and knew what they would have to do. To save the little girl and the Rescuers, they would have to find a way to stop the two gators.

Medusa was chasing after the girl as well, the diamond clutched tightly in her hands. The chase was going into the bayou's forest, right near Ellie Mae's shack.

Q's Bayou Adventure Pt.3

Bernard and Bianca had scurried off into the hole to help her find the Devil's Eye. After introducing themselves and getting to know Penny quickly, the mice scurried around the cave, looking for what should be a gigantic diamond. Penny and the Rescuers ignored the other gems as they rummaged around in the cave. The tide began to rise...

Q was flying towards the wrecked boat at this point, but something caught his eye. A tiny shack no bigger than an toddler. "The things I do now that I am an owl..." Q said as he wrapped his talons on the door of the shack.

A large mouse answered, but quickly slammed the door when she saw who was knocking.

"Go away you big ol' owl! We don't want no trouble!"

"Neither do I," responded Q, "But that is precisely why I am here! I am here to help a little girl escape from that Medusa woman. I was wondering if you might know of any transportation out of this swamp fit for human travel."

The mouse opened the door again.

"You are here to help that poor child they abducted? Oh my, oh my yes I can help you! That lady has a car she parked somewhere in the forest. She drives it around and kicks up all sorts of trouble. I can hardly sleep when its around! I know where it is, but I figure a big ol' owl like yourself needs someone who can fly around and show you the place."

The mouse, Ellie Mae walks out of her house and begins to holler.

"EVINRUDE!!! OH EVINRUDE!!!!"

A dragonfly in a sweater comes flying in, but since its night, there are more than talking owls and evil diamond-seeking ladies about. A group of bats is chasing after Evinrude, and the poor dragonfly seems to be slowing down from exhaustion.

Before Ellie Mae can even ask Q, the great gray owl is up in the air, dropping his protective thimbles onto the dirt near the shack as he flew towards the bats. Evinrude sees Q flying towards him and promptly faints, falling into a downwards spiral. Q flies under Evinrude and lets the bug land safely on his back before he begins swatting the bats away with his wings. The bats nip and bite while being assaulted, but the large owl is much too big to battle and they are not that committed to hunting one solitary bug to risk bodily injury. The bats fly off into the night as Q lands and lets Ellie Mae look over the bug.

"Ah, poor dear, he's just passed out."

Out of the shack walks a drunk mouse in pajamas.

"Is that Evinrude? That bug done tired himself up again didn't he? Just give him a bit of this and he'll be up and at 'em."

The mouse, named Luke, took his bottle of moonshine and poured it down the fainted bug's mouth.

Q's Bayou Adventure Pt.2

Q was an owl, so the night flying was no trouble for him. As the two mice slept on his back, Q followed their directions to a tiny bayou. In the bayou was the wreck of a steamboat, on which two alligators were leashed to a railing. If Q wasn't so used to the bar this might seem a bit odd, but it did not phase him.

What did phase him were the screams of a little girl. Q landed on a tree and watched as a rather ugly woman and a stout man guided the child to a hole in the ground.
"Now Penny, stop screaming and crawl in that hole! You need to get in there before high tide or else we'll never get that diamond!"

Penny continues to struggle in the fat man's grip, refusing to go into the whole. The ugly woman pushes him aside. "You bumbling idiot Snoops! You can't be so rude!"

"Now Penny dear, we need to put you down in the cave so we can get the Devil's Eye. You remember that don't you? Only you can fit in the hole. If you be a dear and fetch us that diamond, you can live with me and Mr. Snoops on our boat for the rest of your life!"

Penny quickly pulls away. "I don't want to live with you! I want to go back to New York. I want someone else to adopt me!"

The woman, Miss Medusa, pushes her into a bucket dangling from a rope above the cave. "If you ever want to see anyone besides those skeletons down there, you better grab me that diamond! Because this time, you won't be coming out until you do!"

"N-now Medusa, we can't do that, she might d-die!"
"I know Mr. Snoops! That is precisely the POINT!"

Penny begins crying as she is lowered into the pit. Q wakes up Bernard and Bianca and tells them the scene he just witnessed.

"Oh my, poor baby, how will ever help her?" Bianca asks.

"Well, we will just have to go down there and help her find that diamond! Then we can plan an escape." Bernard says.

"She might be a bit too large for me to be able to carry her home... While you two are down there, I will look around and try to find a suitable escape route for the young girl once you rescue her!" Q flies off towards the boat, hoping that since Medusa seems to live there, there would be some sort of transportation back to the city.

Q's Bayou Adventure Pt.1

Adopting to his new lifestyle was a rough task at first, but he had gotten used to it. Q, a man trapped in an owl's body, now had his predatory nature down pat, swooping down on unsuspecting rodents in New York

What he did not know was that today, an assembly of rodents was gathering near the United Nations. It was the Rescue Aid Society, a group of mice devoted to helping anyone in need. Based around the tale of the mouse and the lion with a thorn in its paw, the mice ensured no one was alone in their troubles.

Q may have not known about the assembly at first, but he did notice a lot of mice scurrying about New York's streets. He waited on a perch high above, removing the thimbles Zephyrus had given him. They were great for everyday uses, but when he hunted, he had to leave them on a perch. Eying two mice scurrying off, Q swooped down and lifted the two mice up, one in each talon.

He was used to his prey squeaking in terror, he had long since learned to ignore it, but he had not expected voices.

"Put me down you big jerk!"

Q's grip loosened immediately in shock. The rats began to tumble to the road below, but Q quickly swooped them up again, this time to rescue them.

"I sure hope I didn't catch one of those muppets again," thinks Q as he drops the mice safely on his perch.

The two mice were Bernard and Miss Bianca. Bianca was a Hungarian mouse and an agent of the society, whereas Bernard was a janitor conscripted by her to be her co-agent for the mission. They had just found a lead on their case. They explained all this to Q, who understood their plight and was intrigued by the Society's missions to help anyone who needed it.

"Well, I do apologize for scooping you up, but now it seems I might need your help myself. You see, I am not supposed to be an owl. I was somehow turned into one."

Bernard and Bianca looked at each other in disbelief. Bernard speaks up, "Well, Mr. Q, I don't know much about transforming, but if you help us with our mission, maybe we can help you with your troubles too."

Bianca laughed. "Of course we will help you dear, we just need to find the little girl first. Her name is Penny. She is a little orphan who some crazy lady took to Devil's Bayou."

"I have never heard of that place, but if you tell me the way, I could fly you there. All I ask is that someone from your society helps me after your mission is complete."

"You've got a deal Mr. Owl! I mean... Q" Bernard quickly climbs aboard Q's back, pulling Bianca up. The group flies off to Devil's Bayou, seeking the young orphan Penny.

Coincidences

If you have not seen "The Incredible Hulk", the film, this post does contain spoilers for it.

Last night, I posted the fite between Devil Ed and Brilliant Kid. Also last night, I got the film The Incredible Hulk in the mail through Netflix. I have never seen it before, not even a bit of it besides a few trailers many years back. It was the only Marvel film that tied into the Avengers that I haven't seen and I wanted to see it before I go to see Avengers soon.

Anyway, last night I worked on the fite and posted it around 10 or 11 I think. Today, around 1 pm, I watched Incredible Hulk. The coincidences between the final battle of the Incredible Hulk and last night's fite are uncanny.

In last night's fite near the end, Brilliant Kid got a hold of a sturdy chain, which he proceeded to use like a weapon. However, Devil Ed was able to get the weapon away from him and use it to strangle Brilliant Kid from behind. However, he did not kill Brilliant Kid, merely let him pass out.

In the climax of the Incredible Hulk, the Abomination got a hold of a sturdy chain, which he proceeded to use like a weapon. However, the Hulk was able to get the weapon away from him and use it to strangle the Abomination from behind. However, he did not kill the Abomination, merely let him pass out.

Now then, how on Earth was I able to so closely copy a scene from the movie I had not yet seen? Perhaps Marvel and I just both appreciate the use of chain weaponry. This crazy occurrence was too much for me not to point out.

There were a few minute differences between the setup, but still! Crazyness!

Seems like its about time to get the RP train a-roaring

Zoofights 7 might not be what we thought, but I think its time to kick the RPing off over there since people will be returning soon.  Whatever the Major has planned I'm sure will be awesome, but its time to move in and reinvigorate the bar.

First, the theme, since we don't know if we have one this year. I say we just go ahead and do "nineties until we know better". You all have it set in your mind anyway, so might as well do it unless the Major's mysterious plans say otherwise.

Next, time to put up the rebooted topics. I'm about to slap down the welcome to the bar topic, and I'll post the new Fite Yer' Mates topic soon. Gezora can post the new "The Bar" and "The King of Beasts" topics so that we don't have 1000 page backlogs and we can have a fresh start there, and you all can repost your topics as you see fit.

So lets get this rp going so we have the summer to have fun, even if Zoofights isn't quite what we thought it'd be this year.

Welcome to the Bar! (Read Before Posting)

(Here is a tentative topic I will post in the bar subforum as soon as the events kick off again this season. It is pretty much the introduction for new users topic we've talked about. If we can get it stickied that would be swell, or we could just use it as a divider between last year and this year's topics if we can't! Anyway, here it is, comment with any suggested revisions. Names for topics are tentative too, in case they change)

Greetings fellow user, and welcome to the Zoofights Bar subforum! This is the part of the website where you may talk to other users about all kinds of cool things. In other words, if you're saying something that isn't about why one animal can wallop another, do it here!

There are a few important topics around here, so let's get acquainted with what they are and the the hell you are supposed to do in them!

The Bar:
This is the topic where you are free to talk about Zoofighters, order ridiculous drinks, and just generally shoot the shit with your fellow forumites. Here you may also act like a character of your choosing, which boils down to just talking the way you think that character would talk!

The Betting Corner:
If you are really confidant in your support for a Zoofighter, you may come here and bet (fictional) wagers in favor of your favorite fighters against other users!

Fite Yer' Mates:
Think yer' tough? Come here to challenge other users to fites! Other users will vote on which user's character will win, and then a write-up of the battle will reveal the victor!

Major RP Section
The following topics involve plots and roleplaying to a greater degree than the others. They are tons of fun, so if you have the time, feel free to get involved!

The King of Beasts:
The Bar, but with plots and character development. Here, you may roleplay as multiple characters within the bar setting and explore your characters more deeply while interacting with the other users' characters.

Serious Roleplay Thread for Drama Llamas:
This is where roleplaying gets serious. Major events, battles, and things taking place outside of the bar go here so they have room to be lengthy. Any RP post that gets to be rather long belongs here too.

RP Discussion:
A place where the users may discuss the current state of RP affairs out of character. A good place to go to plan things, complain, explain, or compliment stuff.

Barchives:
An archive of major events that go down within the RP setting, compiled for easy access.

Character Profiles: (maybe not, what do you guys think?)
A place to assemble all the info on your RP characters, so that we can all keep track of who they are.

Other topics will be added here if needed, but most new topics do a good job of explaining what they are all about in their first post! Now that you know what goes on around here, why don't you come and join us for a drink? You're gonna like it here.

(Hot Drugs Stand omitted since The Bar will take its place. Comments? Revisions?)

Gezora Update

Yo, I know in the last entry I said I found out Gezora is alive (and that I was working on a project over Spring Break, but that is still ongoing because I overestimated my meager abilities as I so often do), but I messaged our ol' mod and got a response!

I won't reproduce it in full since it ain't pivotal bar info or something, but the user is ok and thriving. He has some cool job with insects that takes up like, half of every month with field work. That's why he stopped hanging around, work! He says he will try to drop by this year when he isn't working, so that will be nice!

His opinion on the rp explosion: He seems to be overwhelmed. The multiple characters, dramas, and romance all kinda surprised him, its probably just the sheer change in procedure that threw him off, but whatever, I can only speculate!

He said an assistant bartender might be helpful since the user Gezora has business to do sometimes, and that was pretty much my boiled down version of the PM.

I responded to the pm and told him some stuff, like how we are going to try and renovate the bar's topic structure next year, that the lack of a mod was felt sometimes and that I was a bit of the de facto RP mod (because I would feel dirty not telling him :/) , and how Walter was an assistant bartender and Gezora was still serving drinks and reffing. I also said we miss him mucho mucho and would love to even just see him a bit again.

This message is kinda old (from pretty soon after my last blog) but my "big plans" have distracted me from telling you how our ol' barsquid is doing!

Other junk on the agenda: JRM is going through story stuff during this break between zoofights so I can do some plot/character things next year. I have a few "theme-exempt" ideas and then back-ups with ideas if certain themes do pop up, but right now Im just thinking Major Failure will come up with something out of left field and throw me for a loop if I commit mentally to a theme idea.

Now, back to the shadows, where I shall continue to be dazzled by ya'll's writing and try to think of funny things to say afterwards.

The Silver Age

A newspaper is slammed on the desk.

SLAM!

"Curse that brother of mine! The Lord of the Night and his Fearsome Four's crimes have constantly made headlines while my misdeeds never even make it on the front page! 'LORD OF THE NIGHT'S FLOOD FOILED!' 'LORD OF THE NIGHT'S MURDEROUS MACHINE MASHED!' I'm tired of living in the Lord of the Night's shadow! Soon, the world will know to fear the name Dylan!"

Meanwhile, at the King of Beasts Malt Shop...

Gezora, The Amazing Squid, polishes empty glasses after a good day of serving its clientele. Returning to its store room to prepare the next day's batch of special malt drinks. However, upon opening the store room's door, it finds it empty!

The Amazing Squid rushes quickly to its office and lifts the head of its Major Failure bust, revealing a secret button. Pressing the button, the Amazing Squid sends out a distress call to...

The Dawn Soldiers!

Deep in the Everglades, a transceiver begins to beep! Emerging from the foliage is the Giant Mantis! Once an ordinary mantis, a group of super scientists performed genetic experiments on her, increasing her strength and size to heroic proportions! And thus, The Giant Mantis was born! Using her "Mantis Sense", she can sense opportunities no other mortal could ever perceive! The Giant Mantis receives her communicator's message and takes off to rejoin her fellow Soldiers.

Meanwhile, another transceiver beeps in Celestia Labs. Roused from his work on robotic advancements, a certain doctor makes sure to sneak away from his fellow scientists to answer its call. For beneath the labcoat and glasses hid a hero! The robotic wind master, Air Man! Once a human named Victor Zephyrus, he was caught up in a robotics experiment to simulate the power of mother nature's wind. Luckily, the accident spared the young doctor and turned him into a blue robot with the power to manipulate the winds! Shedding his civilian clothes, Air Man rode a tornado towards the King of Beasts.

Teenage janitor Alex Triden was busy at work when the beep of a transceiver alerted him to trouble. Alex, a humble janitor working at his own high school, once happened upon a Crystal while seeking adventure in a nearby cave. A god of fortune had blessed the crystal with the powers of the Earth, and when the young Janitor picked it up, it granted him the ability to transform into the Earth Knight simply by activating his special gem. Alex snuck away and activated the crystal, rushing to meet up with his fellow heroes in time!

"I'll buy it for 100 dollars!" "100? That's not even a fourth of what I paid for it!" A street merchant argued with his customer over the price of a small object, but when it started glimmering with a distress signal, the merchant sheepishly rushed off. Hiding in an alley, the merchant removed his human mask to reveal a strange goat-like man, but quickly put on his superhero costume. For you see, this was The Saberwolf, a man mutated by gamma rays from an exploded atom bomb and turned into a superhuman mutant! The Saberwolf quickly hopped onto his Sabercycle to meet up with the others.

Deep in meditation, Nicholas Water levitates within a waterfall. Dressed in the garb of the Purple Ninja Clan, he is shielded from its powerful pounding force due to his amazing ability to control water. By tapping into his inner chi, he was able to calmly manipulate the water around him, creating beautiful rainbows and streamers of water. However, the sudden beeping of technology pulled him out of his ancient art, crashing into the pond below, Rain grumbles as he checks the transceiver and quickly swims away to his friends when he realizes he is needed.

The last two members of the group were the ones no one would ever suspect of superheroics. Billionaire couple Amanda Jones and Eran Silverman were busy laughing as they wined and dined at a high-class restaurant. However, the call of duty was the greatest in these two. The moment they heard the beeping, the quickly left the restaurant and suited up. Amanda was an ex-marine chosen by her superiors to be a new kind of soldier. Fitted with super armor and flamethrowers, she became the Fire Bat! Her long time boyfriend came from a similar background, a marine who had fought hard, but in his darkest hour, he was rescued by the Night Hunter, who gave him super powers and claws made of lightning. Joining his girlfriend in combat as the Lightning Claw, the two ran at top speed to the Malt Shop.

With the Dawn Soldiers assembled at the Malt Shop, their quirky companion form an alternate dimension appeared! Jumpy the ghost popped in with a big grin.

"Hello Dum Dums! Looks like the dawning of a new adventure!"

After a quick laugh with their silly sidekick, they quickly got the low down on the situation from the Amazing Squid.

"It must have been the Lord of the Night! Only he could have done something so dastardly!" stated the Earth Knight.

"Nay! He is locked up tightly in Friend Computer Asylum." exclaimed Rain.

"Wait! My Mantis Sense is tingling! He seems to have left a clue!" Giant Mantis observed.

The team lifted a note, with a manifesto written in dark ink!

"Don't think you can stop me!
You all should give up hope!
Look high and low,
And you won't find me!
Now you will all know my power!"

The group briefly considered the puzzling conundrum.

"Who could it be?" pondered Air Man.

"Maybe the Warrior Poet?" chimed in Jumpy.

"Wait! Look at the letters! Each sentence starts with a different letter!" the Earth Knight notices.

"Dylan! That dastardly brother of the deliverer of darkness himself!" Lightning Claw states.

"Quickly! We must track him down and foil his nefarious scheme!" Fire Bat says,  running off to the lair.

"But we'll never get there in time! Unless..." The Saberwolf whistles, and in a split second a giant dragon descends from the sky!

"Hop on!" Draco the Super-Dragon shouts. The Soldiers board the dragon and fly off to Dylan's headquarters, the Second Banana Shipping Company.

Our heroes land at the doors of the warehouse, bidding farewell to the friendly dragon who carried them there. Opening the warehouse doors, they all gasp in shock! Dylan is standing on a high platform, tinkering with the controls to a doomsday device!

"Ah, the Dawn Soldiers, so good of you all to come!" Dylan turned to the heroes, and quickly, Giant Mantis's mantis senses alert her to an opportunity!

"While he tells you his plan, I'll try to sneak up behind him!" Giant Mantis scurries off as Dylan continues goading our heroes.

"You see, my brother always tried to destroy the world, but he always did it the wrong way! I knew the Amazing Squid's special malt drinks had chemicals that, when mixed together, would created a gas so powerful that the whole world will become intensely thirsty! When they drink, they will drink up their entire water supply, leaving humanity without any water and collapsing from thirst!"

"Your scheme will never succeed Dylan!" Air Man shouts.

"Ah, but I knew you would try to destroy my gas ray the minute you showed up, so I have made sure you will not want to break it! Behold!"

Switching on a spotlight, Dylan reveals that there are people tied to machine! Sarah, girlfriend of Earth Knight and daughter of famed robotic expert Celestia; Sine Cosine, Air Man's on-again off-again love interest who has never returned his feelings... yet; and Stella, the wife of the purple ninja and a high ranking public speaker! With these three lovely ladies tied to the weapon, how could our heroes possibly stop Dylan?

"And that is not all!" continued the archfiend, "While my brother had a Fearsome Four, I have rounded up a Furious Five!"

From out of the shadows step five foes familiar to our band of heroes!

"The Closet Monster!" Air Man said.

"Jeff, The Painted Man!" exclaimed Fire Bat.

"The Technological Magician!" shouted Lightning Claw.

"Sister Alice, The Black Nun!" The Earth Knight screamed.

"The Servitor!" Rain finished.

The villains surrounded the Dawn Soldiers, getting closer and closer to our heroes! Will the Dawn Soldiers be able to stop Dylan's nefarious plot? Can they defeat the Furious Five? Where is Giant Mantis? Will the girls be saved in time?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the villains closed in, Dylan prepped his gas ray to fire the chemicals across the globe. What he didn't notice was a gigantic insect lurking in the shadows. As Giant Mantis tried to sneak up on the dreadful Dylan, the rest of the Dawn Soldiers were closed in on by the Furious Five. With a burst of power, our heroes set into motion!

Air Man charged towards the hulking brown mass that is the Closet Monster. Firing a large tornado, Air Man tried to blow the beast away, but its feet seemed to be firmly planted in the ground. It chuckled, and then from its mouth shot out a snake-like tongue. The tongue snapped at Air Man, who dodged it nimbly, but even a robot could not keep out of its reach for long.

Meanwhile, Fire Bat tried to melt the Painted Man with her flamethrowers, but the unique composition of his body allowed him to dodge the flames like he was made of fluid! Flames roared all around him, but the Painted Man quickly closed in on her and began to drench her suit in his vile liquid body. The paint began to turn the bright red armor of Fire Bat into goo!

Lightning Claw saw his girlfriend in trouble, but he was quickly interrupted by the wily Technological Magician. He had clashed with the Magician before, but the distractions gave the villain an edge. With a wave of his metal wand, the Technological Wizard caused Lightning Claw's signature weapon to malfunction. Lightning bounced all around Claw, and the hero was forced to dodge his own weapon as the Magician laughed maniacally.

The Black Nun was a ruthless woman, but the Earth Knight was keeping her at bay. Her sharp fingernails clashed with the Earth Knight's blade, neither one of them gaining any ground. That was until the knight used his earth powers to fire the ground at her. However, the Black Nun quickly shattered the stones with a single blow! A sly grin appeared on her face as she glowed black and charged forward, forcing the Earth Knight to the ground. The Nun slashed constantly at him, her claws blocked only barely by the struggling teenage hero.

The mechanical monstrosity called the Servitor extended its many metal tentacles at the watery ninja Rain, whose water abilities allowed him to weave through them with ease. Rain tried his best to break the machines tough exterior, but the Servitor's tough armor was just too hard to crack! Servitor quickly sent out an electric shock, stunning the water based ninja due to the conductive properties of water!

Seeing his teammates getting trounced, The Saberwolf decided to try and attack the problem at its source. Leaping up to Dylan, The Saberwolf began to swap blows with the archfiend. Dylan laughed as he easily blocked the assault, but he managed to start a countdown timer, 1 minute until the gas was released!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things were looking bleak for our heroes, but out of the darkness emerged the Giant Mantis! With a quick swipe of her massive claws, she severed the ropes binding the girls to the doom machine. The girls climbed up onto the insect's back as it began to tear away the paneling of the gas ray.

Back on the ground, the Closet Monster's assault met with an unexpected surprise! As Air Man was dodging the snake-like tongue, he managed to position himself just so, causing the tongue to careen into the giant fan the robot had in his chest. Before it could retract, Air Man began to spin his chest fan. The Closet Monster was unable to free itself, and soon it was spinning in the air! Air Man stopped the turning blades and let his foe loose, tossing him into a wall and knocking the Closet Monster unconscious.

"What's wrong? Feeling a little tongue-tied?" Air Man chuckled.

As the Painted Man began to sink into her quickly liquefying armor, Fire Bat thought of a perfect plan. Instead of trying to hit the supervillain with her flamethrowers, she turned the weapons on her own metal suit! The suit quickly heated up, causing the Painted Man's liquid form to boil! The villain slid off her armor, and she quickly contained the liquid fiend in a glass jar.

"Things getting too hot for you, Painted Man?" Fire Bat asked.

As the electricity from his claws danced a dangerous dance around him, Lightning Claw tried to get his bearings. The Technological Magician was beginning to animate nearby appliances to go in and defeat the hero, and Claw needed to think fast. Realizing he was unable to control the path of the electricity, Lightning Claw thought quickly of electricity's properties. Seeing the metal wand of the Technological Magician, Lightning Claw navigated himself toward the Magician. Lightning took its natural course and struck the metal wand like it was a lightning rod, knocking out the Technological Wizard and undoing his magical spells.

"Hope you didn't find that too shocking!" boasted the Lightning Claw.

With the Black Nun about to slash at his face, Earth Knight desperately tried to find a way to free himself. Calling upon the power of his Crystal once more, he used a slab of stone to knock the old woman off of him. Getting up before she could, he quickly formed two slabs of dirt around her powerful claws, effectively handcuffing the criminal. As she tried desperately to free her hands, the Earth Knight fused his sword with the stone in the ground and lashed forward, knocking out the old evil nun.

"Did I just rock your world?"  laughed the Earth Knight.

As the other foes fell, Servitor still stood strong. The machine did not seem to be harmed at all, but Rain seemed to be exhausted from its electrical assault. The tentacles seized the ninja and pulled him in toward the body, where a gaping maw opened up. Rain smiled, having set up the situation just for this opportunity. Turning into liquid, Rain flowed out of the machine's tentacles and into its mouth, where he began to flow through the wiring, destroying any and all wires he could! Rain flowed back out of the body and reformed into a human from his watery shape. Servitor quickly short circuited and shut down from the internal assault.

"You are all washed up Servitor!" Rain exclaimed.

Giant Mantis's claws had finally broken into the interior of the gas ray. As the countdown reached the last few seconds, she had to deliberate on which wire to cut. Luckily, her mantis sense quickly told her to cut all the wires, and as the countdown hit 1 second left, the mantis's claws disabled the doomsday device.

Hearing his minions fall and his machine being destroyed distracted Dylan. The Saberwolf delivered a strong series of blows and then swept out a leg, tripping the villain and sending him over the railing. The Saberwolf reached out and grabbed Dylan's foot, leaving him suspended over the vat of chemicals that powered the gas ray. Dylan sputtered, "Don't drop me!"

"Don't worry Dylan, the only place you will be dropped is into a cell in Friend Computer Asylum!" The Saberwolf taunted.

As the police arrived to apprehend Dylan and his minions, the girls were reunited with their heroes. As the group embraced and celebrated a job well done, that old jokester Jumpy chimed in, "Hey guys, look at the paper!" Jumpy produced a newspaper, showing them the front page. "DEADLY DYLAN'S DASTARDLY DOOMSDAY DEVICE DESTROYED!" "Looks like he finally made the front page! I bet he would really get a gas out of that!" The whole gang laughed as their most exciting adventure yet comes to a close.

Ashes to ashes, then into the goddamn sun

Getting a bit nostalgic for the BBB, I checked it out and realized that Designate pretty much devastated Saberwulf, turning him to ashes. The whole "blasting him with a sun" idea was one of the first things I came up with for the final battle of the year between Designate and Saberwulf, but it seems very appropriate that someone who got burnt to ash would want to one up it in the most epic way possible.

One thing also on my mind lately is going through the bar and finding moments worthy of drawing to practice my style on. There are just so many things worth drawing and things I don't think I could properly capture. I need to work on backgrounds too

Also: What style would you call Zoofights in general? A comic? Illustrated story? Trying to sell the idea to a friend of mine, seeing if I can wrap him up in the forums for next year >:D

City of Beasts Pt.2: Tapogres

When you live in a city full of murderous machines, mutants, monsters, marines, and mafiosos, beer is a high commodity. People would do anything to briefly forget the terrible world around them, and alcohol provided that comfort to those who could get their hand on it. The bar squid's drinks provided brief sustenance, but as the recipes and ingredients were exhausted, people became desperate for a drink. Even the hardest rivals were willing to briefly work together if it meant that they would be able to get their hands on the scarce amber liquid.

Unfortunately for a young naive Tapogre, this booze trade made him incredibly valuable. Yquem, a young tapogre with wine for blood, was prized for his high class flavor and constant ability to supply it. Although only subpar amounts could be extracted at a time, the refractory period was short enough to warrant a highly monitored trade on the tapogre himself.

Yquem was at first tortured to provide his precious lifeblood, but after a while he learned that his lot in life was to provide the gangs of the city with their juice. Yquem was currently in the hands of the Triden gang, and the red liquid provided their beverages the air of class they futilely tried to imitate. However, the Family had dipped into their mass of riches in order to acquire the wine fountain that is the young tapir. Their penchant for Italian ways often hurt their finances, but they had enough to warrant purchasing the closest thing they could get to the wine of the Old Country.

In transport, the Triden family's goons actively harassed the poor Tapogre, trying to get a few last spurts of wine from his bottle-arms. However, their dilly-dallying proved to be their downfall. A bullet sailed through the air and took down one thug, and as the others fumbled with their weapons to try and fire on the unseen sharpshooter, they were all picked off. Yquem stood alone in the street, and as the sniper loaded another bullet to take down the Tapogre too, a familiar nuisance blocked his view. A shower of flyers were sprayed all over the streets obscuring his aim and allowing the Tapogre to escape. The sniper aimed his gun and fired at the sky, trying to hit the one who had dropped the flyers for Yahoo.com.

Yquem stumbled through the city, running the only place he knew he could hide.Far off he could hear the rumblings of two titans fighting in the street, and his fear for his life made him lose his way. It wasn't until nightfall that the Tapogre was able to locate the path to his destination, the only safehouse for Tapogres in the City of Beasts: The Church of Tapogrepogo.

In concept, the City of Beasts was a perfect place for the violent race of tapir-ogre mutants. However, they quickly realized they were outmatched, and even though they wandered the streets still, they knew their lives could end for any reason at any second. The city was ruthless, and they lacked the wits to match their brawn. Tapogres died left and right, and few were able to get the food they needed to survive. That's where the church came in. Unknown to most other denizens of the city, the church was a safe place where Tapogres could sleep for the night and find allies for hunts for human flesh. Pornogres provided them outlets for their carnal desires, and the priests were always encouraging them to have hope.

Yquem approached the church in the dark, and noticed the first of many defense mechanisms. It was simple, meant to inspire fear and teach possible intruders of their fate. Bodies hung from street lamps and makeshift pikes. Some were humans, while others were Tapogres themselves. Dissenters, moles, and spies were ratted out and killed. One looked familiar to Yquem. It was Seo, an old Tapogre acquitance who had told him about the church. However, Seo had been augmented with some sort of machinery, and he must have been executed for suspicion of being a spy for the machines.

As he got closer, he found a short tunnel tipped with razors that led to the church's entrance. Tapogres had many things to fear in the city, but no one was feared more among the race than a certain Tapogre that had taken it upon himself to rig their bodies with phishing lines that allowed him to control their every move. The tunnel was meant to sever any lines that were hooked into a Tapogre or that tried to infiltrate the church's interior. The Tapogres had no idea if it worked, but they attributed the lack of infiltration so far as a sign of its effectiveness.

Yquem had almost reached the door when he was startled by a sudden snarling. The church's last line defense sat by the door in a wooden house. The creature growled at Yquem, but it did not lunge forward. Its uncanny sense of smell allowed it to differentiate between real and fake Tapogres, and its razor sharp teeth made quick work of anyone foolish enough to try to impersonate the mutant tapirs.

Yquem struggled with his bottled hands to grasp the door handles, but when he got it open, he was treated to a sight. Tapogres sat all over the church. all preparing for sleep. A few were busy preparing a few murdered men for a late dinner, and at the altar a few were even praying. On the altar sat a rotting head of a Tapogre, believed to belong to the fabled Tapogrepogo the church had been named after. It was believed by the priests that a unity among Tapogres could lead to the resurrection of the Fallen Saviour. The priests often had little to back up the validity of Tapogrepogo's supposed strength, but when the last Tapogre prophet had lost his life for the cause, few questioned its validity anymore.

On a crucifix above the congregation sat the Fallen Prophet. Although he never claimed to be a Messiah for the Fallen Saviour, the priests were quick to label him one. The humble foreman had sought unity in the city between not only Tapogres but the many races. Unfortunately, his upbeat attitude was his downfall. There was no room for heroes in a city of villains. However, his martyrdom led to the developing unity of the Tapogres, and at least his memory gave them hope for tomorrow.

One of the priests approached Yquem and welcomed him. Yquem had never seen the priests and never had heard them described either, so he was very startled to find they were a trio of cats made of custard. The cat guided him over to an area where other Tapogres sat, some seeming as fresh to the church as he was. One of them had four arms, and was busy picking at the remains of what seemed like golden armor. It was clear he had been mugged, and although he was quite muscular, the wake-up call about his strength must have drove him to the church.

Another kitten tended to the wounds he had received while in transit to the Family while the other went off to perform some other business. The last priest was preparing to give the last sermon of the night before lights-out. This cat looked different than the others. It was obvious he had been through some sort of trauma, and it was later revealed to be have been caused by a bad deal with a jewel fencer over an ark for carrying the Fallen Saviour's head around in. The priest was rather flat and cracked, apparently saved only by flash freezing. His sermons were often punctuated with stuttering, gulping, and a hacking cough, but his ability to inspire the Tapogres was the greatest of the three.

As Yquem went to sleep that night in a cot he had to share with a young Tapogress with pigtails, he finally felt content. His life here had been rough, but after living through all the brutality, he was finally able to find a place he could call home.

City of Beasts Pt.1: Jumpropeman

"Back of man, I don't want no part of your stupid group!" Keahi screamed. Two relatively well dressed men were chasing after the young Hawaiian with guns at the ready. Neither fired yet.

"It's for your own good kid! You won't last long in the city on your own!" The two men were not the best recruiters, but they would do anything to please their new Mother.

Keahi ran out of the dark alley and into the street, forgetting the dangers of being out in the open in the City of Beasts.  The two men continued pursuing him, but soon the young Hawaiian's stamina allowed him to escape their sights. The two men in suits stopped to catch their breaths.

"God damn, we haven't been able to get one guy to join the Family."

"Well, I've started to think about that, and I think it might be because we run after them with guns pointed at their backs..."

The two men squabbled over what to do next. They were never the brightest criminals, and this lack of brightness made them easily miss the odd distortion of time and space making its way towards them.

The few doors and windows that still could close slammed shut as an aura of warped aura approached the two suited fellows. Heavy footsteps become apparent, and large chunks of road floated up into the air and stayed in place. By the time the men realized what was going on, it was too late to run.

Massive two-dimensional fangs crushed the men and quickly turned the meat into fragments. The beast swallowed its meal and let out a loud "OROAAR!R!"

Lion Jeff continued stalking the streets, a force to be reckoned with if there ever was one. It only sought meals to sustain itself, so those smart enough to notice the distortions were quick to make themselves scarce during its approach. Many had tried foolishly to kill it, but it never seemed to ever stay dead.

On its back lounged its owner, a being who contributed to the distortions with his newfound disregard for his duties. The Jingle Specter had been trapped in an everlasting ennui since entering the City of Beasts, and the fabric of time felt the impact of his inaction. His lack of timekeeping coupled with Lion Jeff's JPEG aura made the city treat them more as a natural disaster than anything.

The buildings-tall feline continued stalking the streets, hoping to find more foolish men who would not notice its obvious approach. Soon, an older gentleman caught its eye. It ran towards him eagerly, but soon the man called out.

"Call off your abomination, Jumpropeman."

The calm voice was familiar to the ghost, and Jumpropeman quickly slowed his mount down with a ring of a bell. "Is that you, Q? I thought Optimus and his raggamuffins killed you."

"Lazy wit as always, Jumpropeman, but I was never killed. Technology needs doctors too, I was lucky I got away when I did though."

Q's body was scarred and battered, and it was apparent that the man had to steal some limbs from his robot captors to replace his own when he escaped.

"What do you want old man? Jeff's gotta eat."

"Your stupid pet can wait. You screwed me over when you sold me out to the Autobot!"

"Hey, I was looking for thrills. Sadly, haven't found any in this whole damn place."

Q scowled at the emotionless ghost but quickly regained his composure.

"You are going to pay now! I got a hold of a little something while I was gone..."

In Q's hand was a vial of green Mutagen, and it was clear some had already been used.

"Jumpropeman, I would like you to meet Bond."

An angry groan rattled through the street as a nearby building caved in. A giant beast came charging after hearing its call. Jumpropeman looked at the newly arrived creature and yawned.

"A monstrous James Bond, how quaint."

The super spy had lost all of his charm after the mutagen mutated him into a behemoth. Muscles bulged irregularly and veins pulsed and popped. The hulking menace stood next to Q, awkwardly trying to keep its imbalanced body on two legs.

Jeff roared at the new monstrosity, and James was quick to moan back. Before either Q or JRM could order them to, both monsters lurched forward and began to tear each other apart.

Q cheered for his manufactured monster, but Jumpropeman still sat on his beast's back, utterly bored by the whole affair.

(Pt.2 coming soon. By the way, I consider Fumes and Midori as portrayed in the other City of Beasts stories canon for mine. I will, however, do all my other characters, so expect many parts!!)

Monster Collector

So, it's been a while since I told JRM's story, and although I intended to quickly write the origins of Tut-Tut and such, I ended up getting sick on the Thursday I was going to. On the bright side, I got Kirby Mass Attack and have finished Kirby's Return to Dreamland, but not the Extra mode yet.

The thing about those games are, the collectibles are more of a nuisance than anything. I want to enjoy the levels and powers and such in Return to Dreamland, but I'm too busy looking for gears. Kirby Mass Attack has the same issue with medals, just feels like a bunch of item hunting. However, Kirby Mass Attack also feels a bit like a chore. I don't like games where I only have a bit of control over my character and I get punished when the AI decides to be stupid. It's definitely the worst main series Kirby game I've played, and its minigames outshine its actual gameplay. Kirby Quest would be lots of fun if expanded, and Kirby Brawlball would be fun as its own game.

Kirby's Dreamland 3, Kirby 64, Kirby Super Star, all extended play time through either non-distracting collectibles and sidequests or cool new things to do.

So, back to what this is supposed to be about. I said I would explain Tut-Tut, the Snappers, and the concept of being a Time Spirit. To understand those guys, we must go back to a young boy who recently discovered Pokemon and was feeling creative.

I doodled strange creatures a lot, but when I found out about Pokemon, I felt compelled to compile them into one collective group and make a world around them. So, I created something called Monster Collector. In it, the Mons, called simply Monsters, are tamed with hand lasers and pitted against each other in combat a lot less restrictive than four move Pokemon battles. The thing took place in Other World, and it was pretty much a reworked Pokemon idea, but the monsters were not ripoffs at least!

So, this young me drew up tons of characters, all still sitting on papers in my room. Tut-Tut was actually part of the first group, as were the Snappers and the Time Spirit.

Remember him from like, one post?

Anyways, those guys were some of the first and thus pretty important to the formation of the whole thing, and also stuck in my memory pretty well. Come Zoofights time and the Big Bar Brawl, ideas began brewing in my head. The cameras were important, so I decided to bring the Snappers out and have them be the cameras with personality! The characters you see are actually called Snaps, with Snappers being weird camera creatures with tongues and slits for eyes. The name was just better so I transplanted the name to the cuter character. Snapper was whipped up with MSPaint and a camera taken from google image search so that he looked nice. The original image of him was a sketch with no color. None of the Monster were colored.

So those are the Snappers, now why did I rope in Tut-Tut? Well, originally I wanted some sort of commenter for the Big Bar Brawl, to lay out proceedings or something like that. I had to pick someone simple in appearance because I was off at University so scanning was not a choice, so I picked two guys. Tut-Tut and Herc. Herc was pretty much a ragdoll with dreams of grandeur and an inflated ego, but he never got implemented because Tut-tut alone seemed a better idea. Drawing Tut-Tut's basic shape over some ancient looking GIS image made the mummy you all know and love.

Now, we have the Time Spirit and the concept of the spirits. Monster Collector's Other World was ruled by spirits who made the world and maintained it, lacking power in our world but responsible for the creation of the alternate version. There are many spirits, those who create, and those who destroy. Most helpful spirits are simple like the Time Spirit, but their leader, mentioned casually by JRM when talking to those Gods from Alex's RPing, is the Ultra Spirit. He is really a sight to behold, a mishmash of bodies and appearances. He is the spirit of spirits and pretty much the final boss of Monster Collector. The Destroyers are actually pretty cool and you may one day see some, but at the moment, only the Time Spirit has been seen. The similarity between JRM and the Time Spirit led to their connection, and again the simple design made it easy to whip him up on the computer quickly for RP purposes.

Well, I think those have been explained well enough, unless I left some things out without noticing. Hope these were interesting despite having less substances. Their personalities are purely Zoofights creations, and although I have no other real OCs left to explain, I may ramble about other things Zoofights related in later posts. No promises though, unless I tempt fate to make me sick again
